Wakayama has selected Clairvest, Yokohama has reduced its integrated resort prospects
Clairvest, through its subsidiary Clairvest Neem Ventures, became the final company in the bidding process after Suncity Group announced its withdrawal last month.
If the location, situated in the city’s Wakaura Bay, is selected as one of Japan’s three integrated resorts, Clairvest will build a 569,000 square meter facility, of which 38,000 square meters will be gaming space.
The property will also include a large convention center, covering approximately 45,000 square meters, as well as facilities such as a Japanese cultural museum, eateries, esports facilities, and an urban sports park. It can also accommodate 2,700 guests.
The facility is designed as a “floating city,” described in county government documents as offering guests a “nature-rich” experience.
Clairvest’s initial expenditure estimate for the facility is 470 billion yen ($3.03 billion/€3.53 billion/£4.29 billion).
Wakayama was the initial area to officially choose a collaborator for a combined resort, and Osaka is in a comparable scenario, as it has only one rival to develop the establishment.
MGM Resorts International has been dedicated to constructing a facility in the city for an extended period, and for this purpose, it has established a group with Orix, a Japanese financial services behemoth.
This week, it was also reported that Yokohama has reduced its bidders to two, including Genting Singapore (in association with pachinko developer Sega Sammy Holdings) and MGM Resorts International.
In the meantime, Nagasaki is a three-way competition, with contenders including Austrian International Casinos, Oshidori International Development and its partner Morgan Gaming Entertainment, and Niki Chyau Fwu Group.
