David Baazov, the head and chief executive of Amaya, has refuted the accusations leveled against him by the Quebec Securities Commission (AMF).

The AMF filed 23 accusations against Baazov in March, alleging that he “aided in trading with confidential information, swayed or tried to sway the market price of Amaya’s shares, and dispersed confidential information.”

All of these accusations are linked to the AMF’s inquiry into insider trading following Amaya’s purchase of PokerStars in 2014.

Baazov declared last month that he would be taking a break from his role at Amaya while the case is being heard.

Baazov stated at the time: “I believe that stepping aside in the short term will help avoid distractions for the company and its leadership, while I will actively fight all accusations against me and proceed with the company’s acquisition plans.”
