Svenska Spel, the well-known Swedish gaming entity, has named Anna Johnson as its incoming Chief Executive Officer.
Johnson assumes this position with a rich history of expertise, having held the dual roles of Managing Partner and CEO at Grant Thornton Sweden since 1998. Her notable leadership journey, particularly her seven-year period as CEO at Grant Thornton, is anticipated to usher Svenska Spel into a fresh phase of expansion.
The Chair of the Board at Svenska Spel, Erik Strand, conveyed his assurance in Johnson’s leadership capabilities, emphasizing her collaborative approach and commitment to cultivating robust, customer-focused units. He posits that her dynamism and inquisitive disposition will be indispensable as the organization continues to adapt and furnish sustainable gaming encounters.
Johnson herself articulated enthusiasm about joining Svenska Spel, acknowledging its distinct standing and potential to provide both enjoyable and responsible gaming while making contributions to Swedish society.
This transition will witness the current CEO, Patrik Hofbauer, relinquishing his role on February 1, 2024, to take on the position of President and CEO of Telia Company. Erik Strand will assume the CEO duties temporarily until Johnson formally steps into her designated role.
This appointment arrives at a critical juncture for Svenska Spel, which recently established a partnership with Kambi Group, signifying its dedication to innovation and advancement within the gaming sector.
The Swedish gaming firm, Svenska Spel, is gearing up to debut a new sports wagering system in the second half of 2024. They plan to provide both digital and physical betting choices. To guarantee their system is first-rate, they have joined forces with Shape Games, a company recognized for crafting exceptional user experiences for wagering platforms.
Even as they broaden their sports betting offerings, Svenska Spel is also making strides in other domains. They’ve linked up with Wagr and the Betsson Group to increase their footprint in the Canadian gaming sector. Furthermore, they’ve collaborated with industry leaders Playtech and IGT to bolster their poker products and lottery infrastructure within the Swedish market.
